Sealing Success: Benefits of Using Gummed Paper Tape with a Case Erector

Why choose Gummed Paper Tape?

Environmentally and Eco-Friendly:

Gummed paper tape is manufactured with 100% natural raw material, coming from sustainable crops. Unlike conventional plastic tapes notorious for contributing to environmental pollution, Gummed paper tape is both biodegradable and compostable. It is the only existing ecological seal method for packing and stands as an environmentally friendly option that not only aligns with the growing demand for sustainable packaging materials but also goes a step further.

Secure sealing and tamper-evident packaging:

The adhesive on gummed paper creates a tamper-evident seal. Gummed paper tape offers exceptional adhesion properties, ensuring secure and reliable sealing of packages. Its strong grip prevents tampering and provides peace of mind during the shipping process. It supports extreme weight, heat, cold and humid conditions and resists the passage of time.

Custom Printing Options:

Businesses often use packaging as an opportunity for branding and communication. Watershed’s Gummed paper tape can be easily customised with your company's logo, messages, or other branding elements, turning every sealed package into a promotional tool.

Easy to Use:

Gummed paper tape is user-friendly, making it an ideal choice for businesses of all sizes. With its water-activated adhesive, it forms a strong bond when applied to corrugated surfaces, ensuring a hassle-free sealing process. The tape is also easy to cut, facilitating quick and efficient packaging operations.

Cost-Effective Solution:

Despite its many advantages, Gummed paper tape is a cost-effective solution for packaging needs. The long rolls and efficient use contribute to reduced overall packaging costs, making it an attractive option for businesses looking to balance quality and affordability. While the initial cost of gummed paper and the associated equipment (such as a case erector and tape dispenser) may be higher than other packaging options, the cost per seal can be lower. This is because gummed paper often requires less tape to achieve a secure seal.

Why use Gummed Paper Tape with a Case Erector?

Using gummed paper with a case erector offers several benefits in terms of efficiency, security, and environmental impact. Here are some advantages of using gummed paper in conjunction with a case erector:

Automation Compatibility: Gummed paper, or water-activated tape (WAT), can be easily integrated into automated packaging systems, including case erectors. These systems can streamline the packaging process, improve efficiency, and reduce the need for manual labour.

Consistent Seal Quality: Case erectors and gummed paper dispensers can work together to consistently apply water-activated tape to the flaps of corrugated boxes. This helps ensure a secure and uniform seal on each box, reducing the risk of packaging failures during transit.

Reduced Material Waste: Gummed paper typically requires less tape to achieve a strong seal compared to some other types of packaging tape.

Ease of Use: Water-activated tape dispensers are designed to work seamlessly with case erectors, making them easy to use and maintain. The moistening and application process can be controlled automatically, minimizing the chances of errors.

Watershed has a range of semi-automatic and automatic Comarme gummed paper tape case erectors. Take a look at the Comarme F2000.

Product spotlight: F2000 + GEM B52

Automatic carton erecting machine

The F2000 case erector prepares the boxes with the 4 bottom flaps folded, taking them from the side magazine (Box loader). The bottom flaps are closed, sealed by adhesive tape or hot melt glue to the filling point (manual or automated).

Any interference between the flaps during folding is completely eliminated. The compact dimensions allow the machine to be incorporated in existing lines or installed in a limited space.
