Pallet Wrap: A Closer Look at an Unsung Hero in Modern Logistics.

Our Pallet Wrap, also known as stretch film or stretch wrap, is produced by a method known as casting to ensure that our film is a more robust, more apparent substrate that only sticks to itself. Pallet wrap is a versatile material designed to stretch and cling tightly to objects, providing a secure barrier that keeps items or products tightly bound together on a pallet. This wrapping process stabilises the load and protects it from moisture, dust, and other external factors.

Typical applications for pallet wrap include boxed products, products in packaging such as bags/sacks, trayed products, mixed pallets, building products, windows/doors, furniture, food/beverage, horticulture, automotive products etc.

What Are The Benefits Of Using Pallet Wrap?

  • Pallet wrap is a quick and cost-effective method of securing loads. By securely binding items together, pallet wrap prevents shifting and movement during transit, reducing the risk of damage and accidents.

  • Provides additional protection - Pallet wrap acts as a protective barrier, shielding goods from moisture, dust, and other environmental hazards. This helps maintain product integrity and quality throughout the supply chain.

  • It will not leave a sticky residue on products, unlike tapes.

  • Will not place uneven pressure across the load.

  • Adhesive single or double-sided.

  • Resistant against puncturing and tearing.

  • With tamper-evident features and anti-theft properties, pallet wrap provides an additional layer of security, deterring theft and unauthorised access to goods.

  • As environmental concerns continue growing, many companies opt for eco-friendly pallet wrap options made from recyclable materials. These sustainable alternatives help reduce carbon footprint and contribute to a greener supply chain.

Our Materials - available in a range of widths, lengths, colours and stretch ratios!

HAND PALLET WRAP

Ideal for smaller operations or situations where manual application is preferred, hand pallet wrap is applied by hand using a dispenser. It offers flexibility and control, allowing workers to adjust the tension and coverage according to the load.

MACHINE WRAP

Designed for high-volume operations, machine wrap is applied using automated wrapping machines. These machines distribute material more evenly and make securing pallets and packages easy. Machine wrap offers greater efficiency and consistency, ensuring uniform wrapping and minimising material waste.

We offer this as standard cast or pre-stretch wrap.

PRE-STRETCHED WRAP

This type of pallet wrap is pre-stretched during the manufacturing process, reducing the effort required during application. It offers excellent load containment and can help streamline the wrapping process, saving time and labour costs.

Two types of pallet stretch wrap are available:

Standard Cast Film Pallet Wrap: Our standard cast film Pallet Wrap is an economical, high-quality film suitable for packaging and transporting lightweight products. It can also be used as a cost-effective, temporary protection measure. Standard case pallet wrap is ideal for all standard pallet wrapper machines.

Cast Power Pre-stretch Pallet Wrap: High-volume users get more significant cost savings with our cast power Pre-stretch Pallet Wrap, which stretches up to a staggering 220%. In addition, it offers better load-holding qualities and is lighter than normal-thickness pallet wrap. Cast power pre-stretch Pallet Wrap suits all Power Pre-stretch Pallet Wrapper Machines.

Environment and Plastic Tax

Plastic tax is applied to all plastic materials imported into the UK, with an exemption for those containing at least 30% post-consumer waste (PCW). This differs from post-industrial waste (PIR), where the plastic tax still applies.

What is PCW? PCW refers to consumer waste materials recycled from external sources and integrated into manufacturing processes.

Why is PCW considered more environmentally friendly? PCW is deemed more environmentally friendly because recycling general waste enables reuse in manufacturing, thus reducing landfill waste.

What is PIR? It refers to the waste generated during manufacturing operations and production processes, which is subsequently reused and considered to have a negative environmental impact.

All of Watershed's pallet wrap/stretch films contain 30% PCW. Therefore, our customers are not subject to plastic packaging tax (PPT).
